Acknowledge God in All Your Ways
Note from today’s Bible reading: Proverbs 1-3
In advising his son, the wise man said, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). Most people who believe in God recognize the need to do this. God is greater and wiser than we are; therefore, we need to put our trust in Him.
However, understanding this and applying it are two different things. In the next verse, the wise man said, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6). This trust in God needs to extend to every part of our lives. If we want to stay on the straight and narrow path, everything we do must be done according to His wisdom.
The wise man continued, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil” (Proverbs 3:7). When we put our trust in God for only part of our lives rather than for everything we do, we are relying more on our wisdom than His. In those areas where we refuse to acknowledge God, we will inevitably follow our own path toward sin and, ultimately, destruction.
So acknowledge God in all your ways. Let us give our lives completely over to Him. His ways are, and always will be, best for us.
