Be Wholly Given to the Lord
Note from today’s Bible reading: Numbers 7-8
Among the tribes of Israel, God selected the Levites to be designated to serve Him in the tabernacle. They were separated “from among the sons of Israel” for this purpose (Numbers 8:14-15).
Though this was certainly an honor for the Levites to be in this position, it was also a serious responsibility. The Lord said, “They are wholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel” (Numbers 8:16).
The responsibility given to the Levites was not for some of them and not for others. They may have had different tasks, but all they did was related to the service of God in the tabernacle. This was also not something they could do half-heartedly. They needed to give themselves completely to the Lord’s work.
As a “royal priesthood” for God today (1 Peter 2:9), we also have work to do in His service. We may have different roles in the church, but we all can and should be involved in the Lord’s work. As we serve Him, we must do so diligently and zealously, recognizing the importance of the work we are doing for Him.
So be wholly given to the Lord. It is a privilege to be numbered among His people. Let us do all that we can to serve the Lord in a way that is pleasing to Him.
