God's Wisdom Is Made Known Through the Church
Note from today’s Bible reading: Ephesians 3-4
The apostle Paul was called to “preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8). Though the Jews and Gentiles were previously separated from one another, they were both able to be reconciled to God “in one body…through the cross” (Ephesians 2:16).
This was the message that Paul preached. It was the message proclaimed by all those who made up Christ’s church. This was so that “the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church” (Ephesians 3:10). How does the church make known God’s wisdom?
First, the church does this by spreading the gospel. As the word of God is proclaimed by various congregations in different places, the wisdom of God is made known to more and more people. Therefore, we need to be helping to spread the gospel so that more people can hear and obey it.
Second, the church does this by exemplifying the qualities of forgiveness and unity among those who have submitted to the Lord’s rule. Therefore, we need to be living up to this standard and striving to “preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).
So remember that God’s wisdom is made known through the church. Let us work together through the church to share the gospel with others. And let us strive to maintain the type of community that He expects His people to enjoy with one another.
