Let Creation Teach You
Note from today’s Bible reading: Job 12-17
When Job’s friends visited him in his affliction, they tried to convince him that he must be suffering because of sin. In one of his responses, Job reminded them about the creation of God and what we can learn from it.
He said, “But now ask the beasts, and let them teach you; and the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you. Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you; and let the fish of the sea declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?” (Job 12:7-10).
Job’s point was that the world around us declares the power of God who made it. The psalmist said, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands” (Psalm 19:1). Paul explained it this way: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
Though man may claim to be wise, the true wisdom of God is on display in the world He has created. Nature itself shows us that there is a higher power, and we must humble ourselves before Him.
So let creation teach you. This world could not have come about from nothing, nor could it have been arranged by blind chance. A world so perfectly designed demands a designer; let us recognize Him and submit our will to His.
