Remember the Wonders Which God Has Done
Note from today’s Bible reading: Psalm 89; 96; 100; 101; 105; 132
The psalmist called upon God’s people to “give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples” (Psalm 105:1). Giving thanks required them to acknowledge His blessings. Calling upon Him demonstrated their trust in God for protection and deliverance.
It is important to understand that this calling upon God to help was not just wishful thinking. In other words, they were not appealing to God while having no reasonable basis to expect Him to help. God had already proven that they could put their trust in Him.
The psalmist said, “Remember His wonders which He has done” (Psalm 105:5). He then proceeded to remind them about God making His promises to Abraham, preserving the family of Jacob, delivering the children of Israel from Egypt, and providing for them in the wilderness.
Not only was this a helpful reminder for them, but these Old Testament accounts are also for our benefit. Paul wrote, “For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Romans 15:4).
So remember the wonders which God has done. He has shown that He cares for His people and is willing and able to deliver them. Let us trust in Him through every situation we face in life, knowing that He will save us if we remain faithful to Him.
