When Jesus came to the country of the Gerasenes, He was met by a man with an unclean spirit (Mark 5:1-2). We are told that the name of the unclean spirit was “Legion; for [they] are many” (Mark 5:9).
After Jesus cast the unclean spirit out of the man, they entered a nearby herd of swine. The herd proceeded to “[rush] down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea” (Mark 5:13). When the news of this got out, the people in that city and country were afraid and begged Jesus to leave (Mark 5:14-17).
As Jesus was getting in a boat to depart, the man who was healed was “imploring Him that he might accompany Him” (Mark 5:18). It is no wonder why this man would want to come with Jesus. However, Jesus told Him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you” (Mark 5:19).
This is the same thing we need to be doing today. The Lord has blessed us abundantly in this life. For those of us who are Christians, He has also forgiven us of our sins and provided us with the hope of eternal life. Rather than keeping that to ourselves, we need to share it with others.
So tell others what God has done for you. We should be able to point out ways that He has blessed us and how He has saved us. As we share this, we can help turn others to Him.
